6mm-Minis is Maksim-Smelchak's blog to discuss gaming, miniatures, books, movies, food, Israel, Judaism, life in general and other funny crud. My favorite scale of miniatures is 6mm, which is also called 1/285 or 1/300 scale. I enjoy many different kinds of games including ancients, Napoleonics, WWI, WWII, the Arab-Israeli conflict, Car Wars AKA Autoduel (a sort of crash'n'derby automobile combat game), 6mm Godzilla AKA Kaiju games, and science fiction games. I'm open to everything though!

GAMING NEWS: MWS Session Report (20 January 2007)

Here's a shot of Richard, Joe B., and Keith chatting over a 15mm DBA game.

Hi Everyone,

A weekend or two ago, the MWSS (Miniature Wargaming Society of Sacramento) gaming club got together and... (pregnant pause)... PLAYED GAMES!

Richard and Maks (me!) sizing up their other opponents during a game of Iliad.

Attendence at the meeting was good with ten attendees:
1. Austin
2. Richard (Whose name usually begins with a D., but the filters keep censoring it)
3. Joe B. (socialized and left early)
4. Joe Riddle
5. Keith
6. Maksim-Smelchak
7. Mike O.
8. Mike Warde (socialized and left early)
9. Paul
10. Anonymous Mystery Attendee

Keith and Mike O. socializing before a game of Iliad.

And we got a goodly number of games in... although we probably could have gotten a few more in, but folks were having such a good a time socializing, taking meal breaks, taking smoke breaks for the smokers, and otherwise having a good time hanging out inbetween the main course of gaming that we probably didn't get in quite as many games as we could have.

Here were the games I recorded although I might have missed one or two:

DBA 15mm
Keith playing the Norse Leitdang - WIN!
Richard playing Early Imperial Romans - Lose.

Richard's Roman's are under heavy pressure from Keith's Norse in this shot... shortly after, the Romans fell.

HOTT 28mm
Austin & Paul (father-son team) playing the Ostentatious Orkz - Lose.
Joe Riddle playing the Douty Dwarves - WIN!

In this shot, the ever generous Joe Riddle explains the game of HOTT to Austin and Paul.

DBA 15mm
Keith playing the Norse Leitdang - WIN!
Maksim-Smelchak playing the Anglo-Danes - Lose.

Maksim's Anglo-Dane spearwall looked very impressive until the scrum met and the swords and axes of Keith's Norse proved hungrier.

TTR (Ticket To Ride, a train-themed board game)
Richard - 2nd (tie)
Keith - 3rd
Maks - 2nd (tie)
Mike O. - 1rst - WIN!

Mike O. proved to be the Master Conductor in this game. Mazel Tov, Mike!

Iliad (An ancients-themed card game)
Richard - L.
Joe Riddle - L.
Keith - L.
Maks - WIN!
Mike O. - L.

Mike O., Joe Riddle, and Richard are all photographed here plotting to bring their ancients tribe to victory in the card game, Iliad!

Mike O. bought a bushel of Mageknight figures after the game went into decline and rebased them for 28mm HOTT. He, like many other club members, is very generous in sharing his gaming items with newer folks who haven't invested in any games yet.
It's a really snazzy army!

Have a great Monday!
